Senior Accountant - Outsourced Accounting Services

Position Title: Senior Accountant

Department: Outsourced Accounting Services (Client Accounting & Advisory Services)

Reports To: Accounting Manager / Director of Outsourced Accounting Services

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Senior Accountant to join our Outsourced Accounting Services team. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions for multiple client engagements, serving as a trusted advisor to business owners and management teams. The Senior Accountant will oversee monthly accounting processes, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and operational accounting functions while maintaining strong client relationships.

This position requires regular travel to client locations to support accounting operations, attend meetings, assist with process improvements, and provide hands-on financial support. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, client-service environment.

Key Responsibilities

Client Accounting & Financial Management

• Manage the accounting and financial reporting functions for a portfolio of outsourced accounting clients across various industries.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Analyze financial results and provide meaningful insights to clients regarding business performance.
• Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and firm quality standards.

Client Service & Advisory

• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients and develop strong professional relationships.
• Meet regularly with client management teams to review financial results and discuss operational and accounting matters.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend best practices to enhance accounting efficiency and internal controls.
• Support clients through audits, reviews, tax preparation, and other financial reporting requirements.
• Provide training and guidance to client personnel on accounting procedures and systems.

Operational Accounting

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and other accounting functions as required by client engagements.
• Review bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with implementation and optimization of accounting software and technology solutions.
• Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard client assets and financial information.

Leadership & Team Collaboration

• Mentor and provide guidance to staff accountants and accounting associates.
• Review work prepared by junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with tax, audit, and consulting teams to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
• Assist management with client onboarding, engagement planning, and workflow management.

Travel Requirements

• Travel regularly to client locations for on-site accounting support, meetings, process reviews, and relationship management.
• Travel may range from 25% to 50% of the time depending on client assignments and geographic coverage.
• Ability to travel locally, regionally, and occasionally overnight as business needs require.
