Job summary

CPS, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with manufacturing industry expertise to support our accounting and financial reporting functions.

This role will lead month-end close, inventory valuation, cost accounting, and variance analysis to drive accurate reporting. You will partner with plant operations, supply chain, and finance to improve processes, maintain GAAP compliance, and support audits.

Qualifications

• Experience as a senior accountant in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in month-end close, financial reporting, and cost accounting.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing costs, inventory, and operational processes.
• Ability to analyze variances and support budgeting and forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end and year-end close activities and ensure timely financial reporting.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and schedules.
• Analyze manufacturing costs (materials, labor, overhead).
• Support inventory accounting including valuation, reserves, cycle counts.
• Analyze standard vs actual costs and variances.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with plant operations, supply chain, procurement, and finance to resolve variances.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation.
• Support AP/AR/GL as needed.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Assist audits with schedules and reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting.
• Assist with accounting systems implementations.

Senior Accountant - Manufacturing

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with manufacturing industry experience to support the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This role will be responsible for month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, cost accounting, and analysis of manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills and a solid understanding of manufacturing costs, inventory, and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and execute month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Perform detailed analysis of manufacturing costs, including direct materials, direct labor, and overhead.
• Support inventory accounting, including inventory valuation, reserves, cycle counts, and physical inventory reconciliations.
• Analyze standard costs, actual costs, purchase price variances, labor variances, and manufacturing overhead variances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to manufacturing operations.
• Partner with plant operations, supply chain, procurement, and finance teams to investigate and resolve financial variances.
• Maintain accurate fixed asset records and calculate depreciation.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities as needed.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and procedures.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Assist with implementation and enhancement of accounting systems and processes.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to management to support business decisions.
