Job Summary: As a Senior Accountant/Team Lead, you will serve as the primary accounting partner for a portfolio of clients, ensuring meticulous financial reporting, strict adherence to GAAP and regulatory standards, and the delivery of insightful analysis to management teams and stakeholders. Your expertise will be vital in managing complex client engagements, leading and developing a team of accounting professionals, and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy. JOB responsibilities

  • Ownership of Client Accounting Relationship
    • Serve as the primary day-to-day accounting contact for a portfolio of clients, developing deep familiarity with each client’s financial operations and accounting data.
    • Be the go-to resource for questions about account balances, transactions, and variances — able to explain the details behind financial results with clarity and accuracy.
    • Support client decision-making by preparing accurate and timely financial information, with guidance and oversight from a Controller
    • Other key responsibilities include:
      • Manage revenue cycle (order to cash), including invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition
      • Oversee expense management process, including coding, approval workflows, and accruals
      • Lead or support payroll processing, preparing payroll-related journal entries and reconciling payroll activity
      • Executing the monthly close process: journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and drafting management reports and KPI summaries
    • Execution of client compliance
      • Maintain sound internal controls and process documentation
      • Oversee compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements
      • Prepare compliance-related reports and schedules such as:
        • Sales tax
        • Loan covenant calculations
  • Team Lead Responsibilities:
    • Lead and mentor a team of five accounting professionals, guiding best practices, career development, and performance management to foster a high-performing, collaborative team environment.
    • Participate as part of the hiring team and help onboard new team members, ensuring they have the tools, resources, and knowledge needed to succeed.
    • Use the Driven Insights Employee Review Program and Career Development Program to provide constructive feedback that supports professional growth and alignment with company goals
Additional Responsibilities

  • Assumes other special activities and responsibilities as required. These include projects such as researching and implementing new technology for internal and customer use, as well as process improvement initiatives.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Experience successfully revamping accounting processes and technology
  • Strong with complex revenue recognition (eg: ASC 606 for subscription revenue)
  • Deep knowledge of complex payroll
  • Strong QuickBooks Online experience required. Xero, Intacct & NetSuite are a plus to have.
  • Strong understanding of KPIs with track record of using to make quick, informed decisions
  • Exceptionally strong Google Sheet / Microsoft Excel GAAP-compliant financial modeling skills
  • Firm grasp on sales tax liability management, including usage of management tool like Avalara
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making & project management skills
  • Willing to work at a high level of intensity and fast pace to support the needs of rapidly growing businesses
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple projects at one time while maintaining incredible attention to detail
  • Maintain a positive, solutions-focused attitude
  • Ability to use good judgement and keep client and Driven Insights information confidential
  • Deliver consistent excellent customer service to internal/external customers, colleagues and management

education and experience

  • Experience as lead accountant in rapidly growing firm(s)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Master’s in Accounting and/or CPA license preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager
  • 2+ years of audit work as an auditor in CPA firm
