A client in Fort Lauderdale is looking for a Senior Accountant to support and strengthen their financial operations within a growing organization. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, coordinating with external audit and tax partners, and contributing to ongoing process and systems improvements.
Responsibilities
- Identify and recommend accounting solutions for new, complex, or non-routine business transactions while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare and record monthly journal entries, including revenue recognition, payroll, accruals, and other recurring accounting transactions.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, ensuring proper asset classification and accurate depreciation calculations.
- Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, fixed assets, intercompany accounts, general ledger accounts, and related sub-ledgers.
- Partner with external accounting providers to support the timely and accurate completion of the monthly close process.
- Review supporting documentation and transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and compliance.
- Coordinate the flow of financial information with external accounting firms supporting audit and corporate tax engagements.
- Respond to auditor inquiries and maintain organized, auditable financial records and supporting schedules.
- Assist with accounting, finance, and operational improvement projects as needed.
- Support the transition and implementation of financial systems and processes, including ERP and accounts payable platform enhancements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of accounting or finance experience, ideally with a combination of public accounting and industry experience.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting principles and U.S. GAAP.
- Experience working with external auditors, accounting firms, or within a public accounting environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite or QuickBooks is preferred but not required.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
