Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant at Out of the Box Technology is a key member of the finance team responsible for maintaining financial integrity, supporting strategic financial initiatives, and leading complex accounting tasks. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role oversees critical accounting functions, leads month-end close processes, ensures compliance with GAAP, and supports audit and regulatory reporting efforts. The ideal candidate brings advanced accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting:

• Oversee and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger and financial transactions.
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Review accounts payable and accounts receivable processes for accuracy and completeness.
• Perform detailed reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

• Ensure all accounting activities comply with GAAP, internal policies, and external regulations.
• Serve as a key contact for internal and external auditors, preparing detailed schedules and documentation.
• Support the preparation and review of tax filings and regulatory reports.
• Recommend and help implement improvements to internal control systems.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis:

• Partner with the CFO and department leaders to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Conduct in-depth variance analysis and deliver actionable insights to senior management.
• Monitor financial performance and assist in driving data-informed business decisions.

Process Improvement & System Optimization:

• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows.
• Support system upgrades, automation projects, and software integrations.
• Provide guidance on accounting best practices and mentor junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.
• Experience: 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role. Experience in a technology or professional services environment preferred.
• Audit Background: Experience working in or with public accounting firms required, either as an auditor or as part of a company that underwent audits.
• Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
• Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other ERP platforms.
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; able to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
