Job summary

Precision Recruiting Solutions Group® (PRSG®) in Pennsylvania seeks a Senior Accountant focused on inventory accounting and close activities. You will own journal entries, reconciliations, and ensure accuracy across financial records, while partnering with FP&A and operations to code transactions correctly.

You will lead process improvements, support month-end and year-end closes, and prepare audit-ready schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• CPA or progress toward certification is a plus, not required.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of inventory accounting methods.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience leading process improvements and internal controls.
• Hands-on command of an ERP or accounting platform and advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs).
• Strong communication skills - must be able to take initiative and collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate business transactions and prepare journal entries.
• Perform and maintain ownership of complex account reconciliations.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Analyze financial results and investigate trends and variances.
• Provide insights to support informed business and financial decisions.
• Serve as the primary resource for inventory accounting processes.
• Oversee inventory and cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation, reserves, cost of goods sold (COGS), and adjustments.
• Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger.
• Investigate discrepancies and support physical inventory counts and cycle count activities.
• Partner with FP&A and operational stakeholders to ensure accurate coding and classification of transactions.
• Support reliable financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
• Prepare and maintain documentation related to accounting processes, reconciliations, account analyses, key judgments, and control activities.
• Support audit readiness and process consistency.
• Coordinate and execute assigned month-end and year-end close activities.
• Prepare audit schedules, workpapers, and supporting documentation.
• Respond to auditor inquiries and information requests.
• Participate in ad hoc reporting initiatives, system implementations, and special projects as needed.
