Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• 3–5 years in public accounting or as Senior Accountant/Controller.
• CPA or CMA preferred.
• Healthcare accounting experience highly valued.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls.
• Expert-level proficiency with QuickBooks Online (ProAdvisor a plus).

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff accountants and provide coaching and guidance.
• Manage full cycle accounting for a portfolio of clients, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Perform complex reconciliations (intercompany activity, revenue recognition, fixed assets).
• Prepare KPI dashboards, cash flow forecasts, and budget-to-actual analyses.
• Lead client advisory work including physician compensation reports and medical billing analyses.
• Optimize client accounting tech stacks using QuickBooks Online, Gusto, and Bill.com.
• Ensure all financial reporting complies with GAAP and internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits and respond to auditor requests.
• Identify process improvements and automation opportunities across client engagements.
• Collaborate with client leadership on budgeting and forecasting.

Senior Accountant

Location: Remote, Ohio

Our Business Services & Solutions Team (BSST) delivers outsourced accounting, advisory, and fractional controller services to clients across multiple industries. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to support our growing client base, with an emphasis on healthcare related engagements.

The ideal candidate is experienced, detail oriented, and comfortable managing multiple complex clients in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, advanced technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights are essential. This role plays a key part in strengthening clients’ financial operations and advancing our firm’s expanding healthcare advisory practice.

Position Description

As a Senior Accountant on our BSST team, you will serve as a strategic partner to our clients, helping them interpret their financial story to make informed business decisions. This role involves both high-level accounting execution and meaningful advisory work. This is a full-time position. The individual will report directly to the BSST leadership members in, and they will provide ongoing guidance and support. This role will include supervising and assisting in the oversight of staff accountants and serving as a key liaison between the accounting team and the BSST leadership. Experience with healthcare clients is a plus as this team has a large niche set of clients that range from ambulatory surgery centers to physician practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review the projects completed by the staff accountants to provide oversight, review work, and offering coaching and guidance.
• Manage full cycle accounting for a portfolio of clients, including complete month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and timely preparation of financial statements.
• Perform complex reconciliations, including intercompany activity, revenue recognition, fixed assets, and other high-level accounting areas requiring advanced judgement.
• Prepare supplemental schedules, KPI dashboards, cash flow forecasts, and budget to actual analyses to support client decision making.
• Lead client advisory work, including physician compensation reports, medical billing analyses, third party payer reconciliations, and year-end tax planning support.
• Optimize client accounting tech stacks using tools such as QuickBooks Online, Gusto, and Bill.com to automate workflows and enhance accuracy.
• Ensure all financial reporting complies with GAAP, internal controls, and firm policies.
• Support internal and external audits, preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend automation or system enhancements to improve efficiency across client engagements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and client leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and other strategic financial needs.
