CBRE is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage routine day-to-day accounting, general ledger maintenance, and timely preparation of manager reports and financial statements. This onsite role is based in downtown Chicago, IL, requiring local residency.
You will reconcile cash receipts, assist with month-end close, ensure GAAP compliance, and support data entry into systems like PeopleSoft and iTrack. Strong Excel and communication skills are essential.
Responsible for the routine, day to day accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements.
Working onsite in downtown Chicago, IL USA. Applicants must be local to Chicago.
Maintain, record and reconcile daily cash receipts. Complete billing uploads and receivable research. Routine accounting functions - create and reconcile accounting entries while resolving discrepancies.
Work with other Accountants to prepare source data for income and balance sheet statements.
Populate financial schedules, report and record for supervisor review.
Verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
Update information in various databases, iTrack and PeopleSoft, to add clients, modify billing rules, set up vendors and customers in MTA (My Transactions) commission system, etc. on a timely basis.
Update cash receipt information in the sub ledger accurately and timely.
Process billing/invoicing and enter data into the accounting databases. May either apply or submit cash applications to the vouchers/invoices. Research and resolve accounts receivable issues.
May assist in month-end procedures.
Other duties may be assigned.

Bachelor's Degree preferred, with 5 to 8 years accounting experience. Experience with automated accounting and financial management systems.
Good written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to write routine correspondence. Should have the ability to convey financial information to non-financial users. Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports.
Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations. Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate basic figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Follows accounting practices to ensure optimum client satisfaction while guaranteeing CBRE financial interests are protected.
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Requires basic analytical and quantitative skills. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form and to work independently. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and timelines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor. Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex to other Accountants, Senior Accountants or department management.

Equal Pay Disclaimer CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Senior Accountant is $90,000 annually and the maximum salary is $105,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
