Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Senior/General Accountant to support a designated region from the Home Office. You will manage Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and prepare financial statements for communities in your region, while working onsite at the Charlottesville Home Office.

The role involves month-end close, vendor and resident billing, and collaboration with regional leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, or Associate's degree in Accounting, or a minimum of 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience with Month-end close, A/R, and A/P is required.

Responsibilities

• Process and pay vendor invoices.
• Manage resident billing and account changes.
• Reconcile vendor and resident accounts.
• Perform month-end reviews for financial accuracy and compliance.
• File business licenses, property taxes, and sales tax.
• Record and track fixed assets.
• Support tax return preparation with financial data.
• Conduct monthly financial statement reviews with leadership.

Job description

Salary range: $65,000-$80,000 per year. Additional bonus potential of up to $8,000 per year.

This position is based onsite at our Home Office in Charlottesville, VA.

As a Senior/General Accountant at Commonwealth Senior Living, you will support a designated region of communities from our Home Office in Charlottesville, VA. This role is responsible for managing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and preparing Financial Statements for the communities in your region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Processing and paying vendor invoices
• Managing resident billing and account changes
• Reconciling vendor and resident accounts
• Performing month-end reviews to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
• Filing business licenses, property taxes, and sales tax
• Recording and tracking fixed assets
• Acquiring in-depth knowledge of our integrated Yardi software and assisting others in its use
• Assist in providing financial information for tax return preparation
• Perform other accounting tasks as needed and assigned. Conducting monthly financial statement review meetings with the Regional Vice Presidents and the Executive Director.
