Job summary

Beloit Health System is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Finance team. You will maintain general ledger, prepare financial statements, support month-end close, and assist in budgeting and variance analysis.

This role partners with leadership to provide accurate reporting and drive financial improvements in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting, 3+ years healthcare accounting, CPA preferred, and strong Excel and ERP experience (Dynamics GP).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressive healthcare accounting experience.
  • Experience with ERP financial systems required; Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines including month-end close, audits, and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial data and payroll information.
  • Adhere to financial policies and GAAP; comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Available to support urgent financial requests outside standard hours.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain integrity of the general ledger with journal entries, accruals, and adjustments per GAAP.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Support month-end and year-end close, reconcile balance sheet accounts and intercompany balances.
  • Assist in annual operating budget development and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and file required federal/state regulatory forms and IRS filings as assigned.
  • Support external/internal audits with schedules and documentation.
  • Analyze financial results and explain variances; prepare leadership summaries.
  • Evaluate ERP and financial reporting systems; assist with system questions.
  • Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff as directed by Finance Director.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and supporting docs.
  • Collaborate with leaders to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and best practices.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Health System's Finance team. In this key role, you will support the financial operations of our healthcare system by performing advanced accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and providing valuable financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

  • Maintain and ensure the integrity of Beloit Health System's general ledger, including review and posting of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP and organizational policy.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management and leadership, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process, including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, intercompany balances, and sub-ledger to general ledger agreement.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of the annual operating budget and long-range financial plan, including compilation of departmental inputs and variance analysis.
  • Prepares and files required federal and state regulatory forms and reports, including IRS filings, cost reports, and other compliance-related submissions as assigned.
  • Support external and internal audit processes by preparing schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and providing documentation to substantiate financial statement balances and estimates.
  • Perform analysis of financial results, identifying and explaining variances to budget and prior year; prepare narrative summaries for leadership review.
  • Assist in the evaluation and optimization of ERP and financial reporting systems; serve as a departmental resource for system-related questions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff as directed by the Finance Director.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to support financial decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices within the accounting function.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressive healthcare accounting experience required; Health System accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP financial systems required; Microsoft Dynamics GP experience a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple concurrent deadlines, including month-end close, audits, and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of financial data, payroll information, and other sensitive organizational records.
  • Adhere to Beloit Health System financial policies, accounting standards (GAAP), and applicable regulatory requirements..
  • Available to support urgent financial requests, audit inquiries, or deadline-driven tasks outside of standard scheduled hours as needed.
