Job summary

Brown Industrial Construction is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead daily financial activities, support month-end close, and ensure GAAP compliance across projects. You will oversee reconciliations, intercompany entries, and accurate reporting for stakeholders.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years in accounting, CPA preferred, with strong Excel and financial analysis skills to support consolidations and audits in a construction environment.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • CPA or CPA candidate actively working toward license preferred
  • 2-4 years of public accounting or industry experience, preferably in the construction industry

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting activities to ensure GAAP compliance
  • Support month-end close with journal entries and reconciliations
  • Coordinate financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually
  • Assist with intercompany eliminations and consolidations
  • Support tax preparation, filings, and planning strategies
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations
  • Assist external audits with documentation and support
  • Provide analytical insights for internal reporting and special projects
  • Participate in treasury tasks including bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasts

Position Description

Honor Services is seeking a Senior Accountant. A senior accountant plays a key role in a company's financial management and reporting. We invite you to bring your analytical skills and leadership qualities to a collaborative environment focused on excellence and growth.

Position Requirements

Primary Duties

o Oversee daily accounting activities to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies

o Support month-end closing process, including preparing and entering recurring and non-recurring journal entries, preparing account reconciliation for balance sheet accounts and material income statement accounts, ensuring appropriate intercompany cost allocations and support reconciliation of intercompany AR / AP between subsidiaries, and preparing income statement and balance sheet variance analysis

o Helping coordinate, prepare and review financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual)

o Support miscellaneous internal reporting needs, both recurring and non-recurring, for internal stakeholders across the organization

o Assist with preparation of consolidation entries and intercompany eliminations

o Assist with tax preparation, filing, and planning strategies in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

o Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.

o Assist in the coordination of external audits by preparing documentation and supporting audit activities.

o Provide support for special projects and initiatives related to accounting and financial management as needed.

  • Secondary Duties:
  • Assist with the treasury functions, including routine bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasting
  • Support with financial related administrative items across the organization, including 1099 reporting and occupational license renewals

Required Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • CPA or CPA candidate actively working toward license preferred
  • Experience:
  • 2-4 years of public accounting or industry experience, preferably in the construction industry

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles, including the following:
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition (ASC 606), including its application to construction contracts using the percentage-of-completion method.
  • Applying GAAP standards under ASC 360 for capitalizing construction assets and equipment, including appropriate depreciation methods and useful life assessments.
  • Knowledge of consolidation (ASC 810) and equity method accounting (ASC 323), including the preparation of consolidated financial statements and the application of the equity method for investments in joint ventures and affiliates.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation, reconciliations, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and internal controls.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills strongly preferred, including:
  • Proficient in Excel logic and lookup functions, including IF statements, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and SUMPRODUCT for financial analysis and reconciliation.
  • Ability to use pivot tables and Power Query to aggregate, filter, and analyze large data sets efficiently.
  • Skill in using data validation, conditional formatting, and dynamic dashboards to enhance financial reporting and strengthen internal controls
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Work with cross-functional teams to obtain support and prepare/maintain comprehensive documentation in support of month-end close
  • Communicating relevant deadlines / milestones to team members and ensuring that team members can meet their respective deadlines.
