Job summary

StevenDouglas is partnering with a high-growth HVAC company in Chicago's western suburbs to identify a Senior Accountant who will report to the Corporate Controller and support growth across all accounting functions.

The role focuses on month-end close, financial statements, WIP, cash forecasting, and integration of recently acquired companies onto Sage Intacct, while collaborating with legacy QuickBooks processes.

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years of accounting experience.
• Ability to prepare accurate financial statements and understand accruals and financial risk.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate financial statements, accruals, and supporting schedules as part of month-end close.
• Prepare and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) schedules for service companies.
• Support cash forecasting and reporting for assigned business units.
• Support accounting managers at business units who are still being trained on WIP and other technical areas.
• Assist with the integration of newly acquired companies onto accounting platform and processes.
• Book journal entries and perform hands-on data manipulation and analysis as needed.
• Support the Controller and the broader accounting team across a variety of projects as the company grows.
• Help standardize accounting practices at newly acquired companies, many arriving with less sophisticated accounting functions.
• Support the transition to Sage Intacct, while working alongside legacy QuickBooks processes.

StevenDouglas is partnered with a high-growth, PE backed HVAC company out of Chicago's western suburbs to identify a Senior Accountant! This role will report to the Corporate Controller and support the high-growth across all accounting functions!

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate financial statements, accruals, and supporting schedules as part of month-end close
• Prepare and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) schedules for service companies
• Support cash forecasting and reporting for assigned business units
• Support accounting managers at business units who are still being trained on WIP and other technical areas
• Assist with the integration of newly acquired companies onto accounting platform and processes
• Book journal entries and perform hands-on data manipulation and analysis as needed
• Support the Controller and the broader accounting team across a variety of projects as the company grows, rather than working within a narrow, fixed job scope
• Help standardize accounting practices at newly acquired companies, many of which arrive with less sophisticated accounting functions
• Support the transition to Sage Intacct, while working alongside legacy QuickBooks processes at recently acquired companies

What we're looking for:

• 4-5+ years of accounting experience with strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles
• Ability to prepare accurate financial statements and understand accruals and financial risk
