Job summary

Wood is seeking a Senior Account Manager in the power generation and industrial markets to serve as the single point of contact for key customers in New Jersey. You will expand relationships, manage proposals and projects, and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver on technical and business objectives.

You will drive contract profitability, secure payments, and ensure customer satisfaction through proactive account oversight.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain or business or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years in design/build/install with proposal, project/account management background.
  • Experience with Power Generation, Industrial, Pulp and Paper, Downstream and Chemical Markets.
  • Strong account management and sales success.
  • Commercial awareness and strategy development for customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the primary point of contact for assigned customers to grow relationships and upsell.
  • Coordinate discussions between internal teams and customers to address operations and technical issues.
  • Apply work processes and direct activities on assigned projects, ensuring quality and safety compliance.
  • Manage multiple accounts and projects to meet deadlines with high-quality results.
  • Coordinate timelines, resources and deliverables while informing clients for contractual requests.
  • Prepare customer proposals and process orders with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop execution plans to achieve contract profitability and meet financial objectives.
  • Secure advance payments, billings and cash-in on time with customers.
  • Review Terms and Conditions/ Customer Agreements with Wood Management, Commercial and Legal.
  • Travel to plants, customers, conferences/trade shows, suppliers, etc.

Job description

The Senior Account Manager acts as the single point of contact and responsible for building and expanding relationships with new and existing customers in the Power Generation, Industrial, Pulp and Paper, and Downstream and Chemical Markets. Responsible to provide on-going technical and business support to customers as well as managing varying sized proposals/projects that may require considerable organizational resources and elevated levels of functional integration.

Responsibilities
  • Function as the primary point of contact for assigned customers to maintain and grow client relationships, ensuring loyalty and satisfaction while identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
  • Be attentive to customer needs, act quickly and facilitate discussions/meetings between internal organization and customers to address unit operations, technical issues, and/or business discussions.
  • Applies the organization’s work processes, business practices and will organize, direct, and control all activities on assigned project(s). Ensures adherence to all quality and/or safety standards.
  • Mange multiple accounts efficiently to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
  • Coordinates multiple projects, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables while keeping clients informed to fulfill contractual requests, technical specifications, and project/outage schedules.
  • Responsible for all aspects of preparing customer proposals and processing all customer orders. Works closely with internal cross-functional teams to complete technical aspects of any proposal/order. Actively anticipates internal and external business challenges and recommends process, product, or service improvements.
  • Develop and implement project execution plans to achieve contract profitability and be responsible for meeting and/or exceeding as-sold financial objectives.
  • Secure all advance payments, billings and cash-in on time with customers. Finding, alerting, and resolving risks to avoid any delays for finance achievements.
  • Participates in reviewing with Wood Management, Commercial and Legal teams to address Terms and Conditions/ Customer Agreements.
  • Position will require travel to plants, customers, conferences/trade shows, suppliers, etc.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain or business or a high school diploma/GED with at least 8+ years of working experience in design/build/install environment with background in such areas as proposal, project management, account management, application engineering, and/or field service areas
  • Experience working with customers in Power Generation, Industrial, Pulp and Paper and Downstream and Chemical Markets
  • Account management and sales success
  • Established project management skills and experience carrying idea generation to project completion
  • Requires commercial awareness and history of the development of strategy for their customers, including
  • Strong people skills to build trust, resolve conflicts, and maintain long-term partnerships
  • Negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and agreements while maintaining positive client relationships
