Job summary

Munich Re US is seeking a Sr. Underwriting Risk Specialist to support the Integrated Analytics team in risk assessment and placement of risks. You will evaluate new data sources, refine underwriting logic, and collaborate across departments to bring products to clients profitably.

You will lead AUW initiatives, develop rules, and advise on user interfaces of underwriting technology, while maintaining deep expertise in underwriting workflows and data-driven approaches.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of life underwriting experience
• Reinsurance underwriting experience preferred
• Industry designations preferred (ALMI, FLMI, AALU) or CLU/FALU classes passed
• Strong underwriting rules development and QA testing skills
• Ability to define user experience and user interface of underwriting platforms
• Expert-level knowledge of underwriting workflows and technology
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas)

Responsibilities

• Develop and build accelerated underwriting (AUW) programs with internal and external stakeholders
• Implement new underwriting programs across distribution channels
• Collaborate to maximize AUW solutions, data sources, and risk assessment platforms
• Monitor AUW findings, identify risks, and propose client-ready solutions
• Engage with vendors and legal team to enable market deployment of offerings
• Address competitive and regulatory threats and present internal recommendations
• Represent Munich Re at industry meetings and client offices
• Showcase team expertise internally and globally
