Job summary

Georgia State University’s University Advisement Center is seeking multiple Academic Advisor I positions in Atlanta to provide individual and group academic advisement, interpret university policies, and assist with enrollment and evaluation processes. The role emphasizes improving graduation rates with high attention to detail and multitasking.

Advisors will guide students on course selection, maintain records, and support retention, including possible orientation support and readmission

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or combination of education and related experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience presenting to groups or with group facilitation.
• Experience following up on problems until resolution.

Responsibilities

• Advises prospective and current students about academic requirements and course selection.
• Maintains and updates student files and records.
• Audits student records for curriculum, major, and graduation requirements.
• Evaluates transfer credits and determines transferability.
• Coordinates communications to students regarding course scheduling and resources.
• Monitors retention, progression, and graduation of assigned students.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
