Job summary

West Texas A&M University is recruiting an Academic Advisor III to support Advising Services. The role focuses on advising freshmen and transfers in CoNH S, managing a 250–300 student caseload, and coordinating the Early Program to connect students with resources and services.

You will collaborate with faculty, administrators, and student-athlete support to develop remediation plans and monitor progress, while maintaining compliance with training requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of advising/recruiting experience.
• Experience in college-student facing roles.
• Experience in academic support for students.
• Familiar with higher education student information systems.
• Ability to multitask and collaborate with staff/faculty/students/parents.
• Clear and concise communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong writing, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, and database applications.
• Experience with online courses or course facilitation.
• Assist with new student orientations and prospective visits for student athletes.

Responsibilities

• Provides academic advice and guidance to students.
• Advises undergraduates with fewer than 45 earned hours and new transfers in CoNHS.
• Submits course substitutions, add/drops, and curriculum changes.
• Monitors probationary terms and approves them.
• Serves as Early Alert Coordinator and develops communication plans.
• Manages early alert caseload and evaluates program effectiveness.
• Assists with New Student Orientation events.
• Assists with faculty advisor training and development.
• Develops remediation plans and coordinates with departments to connect students to services.
• Ensures compliance with required trainings.
