Job summary

West Texas A&M University seeks an Academic Advisor III to join Advising Services. The role oversees an undergraduate caseload of 250–300 students, primarily freshmen and transfers in TRBCoESS, coordinating remediation plans and collaborating with other student support departments.

The position emphasizes communication with students, faculty advisors, and administrators, including coordinating the University Early Program and contributing to training for faculty advisors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of related experience in advising and recruiting.
  • Experience in college-student facing service as a peer leader or student employee.
  • Experience in academic support for secondary and/or college-level students.
  • Familiar with higher education student information systems.
  • Ability to multitask and work with administrators, faculty, students and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Provides academic advice and guidance to students.
  • Advises undergraduates with fewer than 45 earned hours and new transfers in CoNHS.
  • Submits course substitutions, add/drops, and changes of curriculums.
  • Approves, establishes, and monitors probationary terms.
  • Serves as the Early Alert Coordinator and develops communication plans.
