Job summary

ESP Enterprises Inc. seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead design, development, and validation of 800VDC power distribution and MV/LV systems for data center applications.

You will interface with customers and U.S.-based manufacturers, driving specifications, interfaces, and the procurement of long-lead items. Responsibilities include leading architecture development, system studies, and cross-functional collaboration across Japan and the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience with at least seven (7) years in power system design for MV and LV applications.
• Comprehensive understanding of power system design and ability to lead architecture development.
• Strong analytical skills for power equipment in MV/LV applications (rectifier, inverter, converter, UPS).
• Experience with simulation tools PSPICE, Matlab, SIMPLIS, and Ansys for design modeling and verification.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC, IEC; EMI/EMC mitigation; data center power architectures.

Responsibilities

• Develop new technologies and architectures in support of 800VDC and MV/LV power systems.
• Provide support for new IP review and submission.
• Review the market for new technologies and assess viability.
• Define scope for new power systems, including interfaces and responsibilities.
• Own design calculations and analysis packages and maintain traceability to requirements.
• Translate customer requirements into supplier-facing specifications for new power systems.
• Act as primary technical interface with power system manufacturers in pre- and post-award phases.
• Align scope, roles, and responsibilities for product delivery and interfaces.
• Drive contract, schedule, and milestone alignment to procure long-lead items.
• Identify, engage, and screen alternative manufacturers to support sourcing.
• Coordinate high-level specification and interface alignment during early project phases.
• Support bid competitiveness by clarifying assumptions and system-level responsibilities.
• Lead vendor design reviews and manage deviation/corrective actions.
