Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior 3D Environment Artist for a forward-thinking virtual production studio in Upington, Northern Cape. You will own the end-to-end creation of immersive environments for film, TV, and interactive media, from blocking and asset production to lighting and real-time integration.

The role requires strong artistic and technical skills in 3D modeling, texturing, and real-time workflows, with collaboration across art directors and production teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience creating realistic game or virtual production environments.
• Strong portfolio showcasing environment art.
• Knowledge of real-time rendering, lighting, and optimization in Unreal Engine.
• Familiarity with virtual production pipelines is desirable.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality, game-ready 3D environment assets (terrain, foliage, props, architecture).
• Assemble and dress environments in real-time engines with artistic coherence.
• Develop and optimize PBR materials and textures for realism.
• Collaborate with art directors and other artists to meet requirements.
• Implement efficient asset creation pipelines for virtual production.
• Master lighting techniques in real-time engines to set mood.
• Ensure environments are optimized for target hardware/workflows.
• Contribute to pipeline development for environment creation and integration.
• Stay current with advances in 3D environment art and virtual production.
