Job summary

Connex Education are recruiting for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Arnold. You will support pupils with day-to-day learning, behavioural and emotional needs while working with experienced staff to create an inclusive learning environment.

The role supports pupils from Year 1 to Year 7, with both part-time and full-time hours available. DBS and a relevant TA qualification are required, along with excellent communication and team skills.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or exceptional relevant experience.
• Minimum of two terms’ experience as a TA in a British curriculum setting.
• Current Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to complete Connex Education onboarding process.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong relationship-building with pupils and colleagues.
• Two school-based references.

About the Role

Connex Education are recruiting for a dedicated and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school. This role involves supporting pupils with their day‑to‑day learning, behavioural and emotional needs while working alongside experienced teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will be calm, resilient and proactive, with the ability to think on their feet and build positive relationships with young people who require additional support. This role is based within the school’s primary site, supporting pupils from Year 1 through to Year 7 (Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3).

Role Responsibilities

This specialist SEND school has built a strong reputation for providing a supportive environment for both pupils and staff. The role is based within the school’s primary site, supporting pupils from Year 1 through to Year 7.

The school is seeking individuals who are proactive, adaptable and confident in responding to the varying needs of pupils. Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, or experience supporting pupils with behaviours that challenge, would be highly advantageous.

Person Specification

To be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate:

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or exceptional relevant experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
• A minimum of two terms’ experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a British curriculum school.
• A current Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• The ability to successfully complete the Connex Education onboarding process.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with both pupils and colleagues.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
• Two school‑based professional references.
