Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Semiconductor Research Engineer to support the Nanofabrication Facility (NNF) in Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on maintaining advanced fabrication equipment, optimizing processes, and enabling researchers to achieve their technical goals.

You will work closely with facility staff, vendors, and researchers to ensure safe, reliable operations and continuous process improvement in a high-tech, university setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: B.S. or higher degree in a science or engineering discipline.
• Hands-on experience in semiconductor processing and device fabrication in a university, industry, or government clean-room.
• Must be able to operate tools in the facility and train users to use the equipment independently.
• Experience in clean-room safety operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanroom infrastructure and critical equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and process-related equipment issues.
• Develop, test, characterize, and document standard fabrication processes (photolithography, dry etching, thin-film deposition).
• Provide hands-on training to internal and remote users on fabrication tools and procedures.
• Track equipment performance and ensure safe, compliant operations.
