Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a skilled technician to operate Helios DBFIB, prepare TEM lamellae, and perform SEM/EDS analyses for semiconductor and photonic devices. You will analyze results, generate clear reports with images and measurements, and support root‑cause investigations through detailed physical characterization.

The role requires hands‑on microscopy experience and an Associate Degree or equivalent, with 2+ years in failure analysis preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 4+ years in semiconductor analysis, microscopy, or related lab work.
• Hands-on experience with FIB/DBFIB systems is required.
• Experience with TEM lamella preparation using lift-out techniques preferred.
• Experience operating SEM and performing EDS analysis is preferred.
• Ability to interpret SEM/TEM/EDS/FIB data and communicate observations clearly.
• Strong writing, reporting, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate Helios DBFIB to perform cross-sectioning, delayering, and circuit editing support.
• Prepare TEM lamella specimens and thinning/polishing for HR-TEM analysis.
• Perform SEM imaging and EDS analysis to characterize materials and defects.
• Operate TEM to evaluate device structures and failure sites.
• Document results with images, measurements, and technical conclusions.
• Support root-cause investigations with detailed physical characterization.
• Maintain equipment, fixtures, and safety procedures in a cleanroom environment.
• Train technicians on sample prep, microscopy techniques, and lab best practices.
