Job summary

Attractivate Consulting Solutions in Houston, TX, seeks a Distribution Automation Engineer to help utilities deploy self-healing grid technologies, including FLISR, automated switching, and smart field devices.

You will design and support schemes, integrate field devices with SCADA/ADMS, and contribute to testing, commissioning, and performance analysis across projects. This role offers exposure to multiple DA platforms and a path to professional certifications.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
4+ years of experience in distribution automation, protection, or SCADA engineering.
Familiarity with distribution automation platforms and field device communication protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850).
Understanding of distribution system operations and switching practices.
Strong troubleshooting skills in both office and field settings.

Responsibilities

Design and support distribution automation schemes including FLISR, volt/VAR optimization, and automated reclosers.
Configure and integrate field devices (reclosers, sectionalizers, capacitor bank controllers) with SCADA and ADMS.
Support communication network design for distribution automation (RF mesh, cellular, fiber).
Participate in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automation schemes in the field and in SCADA.
Analyze automation performance data and recommend tuning or expansion opportunities.
Document automation logic, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
