Job summary

Wilson Elementary School in Medford, Oregon, is seeking a dedicated Special Education Assistant II (Self-Contained) for a permanent 7-hour/day position beginning immediately. You will support a certified teacher by implementing classroom programs and managing behavior under supervision.

This role requires fluency in English, ability to work with students with disabilities, and sensitivity to individual needs, including mobility and medical supports as outlined in the IEP.

Qualifications

• Must meet current highly qualified requirements.
• Ability to interact appropriately with teachers, staff, and students.
• Fluent in English; Spanish fluency may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists teacher in an instructional setting.
• Maintains classroom discipline using appropriate methods for students with and without disabilities.
• Organizes and manages student work under teacher direction.
• Assists teachers in correcting and recording student work and in testing students.
• Supervises class for short periods.
• Provides support to students with daily work, including computer activities and testing programs.
• Implements planned activities for individual and small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Supervises playground, cafeteria, buses, field trips, and hallways.
• Maintains records and confidentiality; handles instructional materials and supplies.
• Assists with personal care needs and basic medical supports as required.
