Job summary

Food Lion in Clemmons, NC is seeking a Self-Checkout Ambassador to deliver fast, friendly service at the front end. You will assist customers with self-checkout, guide them through the process, and maintain a neat, safe, and welcoming area.

The role emphasizes courtesy, accuracy, and teamwork with store staff to maximize customer satisfaction. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication skills, and the ability to learn several tasks and operate the SCO system.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Must meet minimum age requirements.
• Physical requirements to stand, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers.
• Greet customers and use their name whenever possible.
• Assist customers on how to use Self-checkouts properly including use of the hand scanner for a Fast and Easy checkout experience.
• Respond timely to customer inquiries and self-checkout system notifications.
• Monitor multiple self-checkouts for proper customer usage including the scanning of all items and the accurate scanning of each item.
• Remind customers of items located on the bottom of the cart or items under baby seats prior to them completing the transaction.
• When needed, assist in scanning the customer's order and provide instructions on payment.
• Complete self-checkout voids, age restricted item verifications and any other SCO assist function in accordance with Front End Standard Practice.
• Follow procedures in handling proper acceptance and payment processing at self-checkout for checks and coupons.
• Maintain alertness and call for assistance when needed to service customers per service standards.
• Engage and identify self-checkout customers needing assistance.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to Food Lion dress code.
• Collect and returns shopping carts from the self-checkout area.
• Ensure the self-checkout area has a neat and clean presentation.
• Notify QA of any cleaning issues or maintenance required on front end.
• Successfully complete computer-based training (CBT) and training aid courses.
• Ensure self-checkouts are supplied with proper bags.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
