Job summary

Weber School District, South Ogden Junior High in Utah, seeks a SEL Special Education Paraprofessional to assist the SEL teacher and related service staff in instructional and non-instructional activities for students who have significant behavioral disabilities. The position develops, implements, and monitors interventions and classroom supports to model positive student behavior.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures for extended periods.
• Must be able to move from sitting on floor to standing repeatedly.
• Participate in Mandt training.
• May require working with bio-hazards (blood borne pathogens, etc.)
• Regular attendance at work is critical.

Responsibilities

• Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when managing students with challenging behavior.
• Interpret and implement written behavior plans.
• Collect data regarding student behaviors and recommend instructional modifications.
• Collaborates with school team members to provide instruction and support effectively.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with multiple school teams.
• Monitors individual students to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Duties as assigned by building administrator or special education staff.
