Job summary

Urban Dove Social-emotional Learning (SEL) Counselors support at-risk adolescents through therapeutic interventions, address student and family needs, and collaborate with the Dean to implement Restorative Practices. They also train staff on Social Emotional Development.

Responsibilities include providing individual and group therapy, building partnerships with families and teachers, and coordinating with outside agencies to support students’ social-emotional wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in relevant fields.
• Experience supporting students’ social-emotional well-being and family engagement preferred.
• Experience providing direct services to at-risk adolescents.
• Minimum of one year in a school setting; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group therapy to ~80 students, crisis or ongoing.
• Partner with families, teachers, coaches, and outside agencies for social and emotional support.
• Develop behavioral intervention plans, crisis response, and case planning.
• Facilitate mediations, restorative circles, community-building circles, and harm circles.
• Contribute to IEPs as needed.
• Maintain accurate and updated case notes.
• Plan monthly staff development on social-emotional and restorative practices.
• Coordinate services with outside providers for case management.
