Job summary

University of Rochester is seeking a full-time Mail-Fac & Services driver to deliver and pick up materials, supplies, and equipment at the 271 East River Rd facility. You will be responsible for driving, loading/unloading, and maintaining trip records while following safety and procedural guidelines.

The role requires a valid NYS driver’s license, ability to read and follow maps, and capacity to lift up to 70 pounds.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English and to understand and follow maps, diagrams, oral and written instructions.
• Must possess a valid New York State license with appropriate class based on gross vehicle weight ratings.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Drive panel and/or stake trucks to deliver and pick up supplies, materials, equipment, and other items.
• Know locations of buildings, departments and loading entrances to make deliveries.
• Load and unload materials, furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• Make special runs as directed by supervisor.
• Keep daily records of trips and time involved; follow handling procedures for fragile cargo.

The referenced pay range represents the first and last step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities:

• Drives panel and/or stake trucks safely to deliver and pick up supplies, materials, equipment, transportation tickets, etc. Responsible for general maintenance of vehicle and necessary daily or other periodic reporting of trips as required.
• Knows locations of buildings, departments and loading entrances in order to make specific pick-up and deliveries.
• Loads and unloads materials, furniture, supplies, equipment, etc. with assistance as needed.
• Makes special runs as directed.
• Keeps daily record of all trips and time involved. Knowledgeable of and implements special handling procedures of fragile cargo. May keep record of all portable equipment by location.
• Advises supervisor of need for preventive maintenance, inspection or repair of vehicles.
• May make minor repairs.
• Refuels vehicle, checks fluids and keeps vehicle clean and neat at all times.
• May assist in receiving room when needed.
• Sorts and delivers mail as required.
