Job summary

Boston Public Schools (BPS) seeks an exceptional Special Education Teacher with SEI Endorsement to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. The role focuses on providing high-quality instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays within the general curriculum, and requires collaboration with a diverse school team.

Reports To: Principal/Head of School. Start date to be determined; competitive compensation with district salary structure.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree.
  • Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade.
  • SEI Endorsement OR ESL license at the appropriate level.
  • Must meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Implement district learning goals and align with state frameworks.
  • Provide small-group instruction for students with moderate to severe cognitive delays.
  • Write and implement IEP goals and monitor progress.
  • Provide accommodations for learning and testing; develop curriculum as needed and prepare MCAS Alternative assessments.
  • Collaborate with staff to support student needs and modify instruction as required.
  • Assist students transitioning to adult living services where appropriate.
