Job summary

Boston Public Schools (BPS) seeks an exceptional Special Education Teacher with SEI Endorsement to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. The role focuses on providing high-quality instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays within the general curriculum, and requires collaboration with a diverse school team.

Reports To: Principal/Head of School. Start date to be determined; competitive compensation with district salary structure.

Qualifications

Hold a Bachelor's degree.
Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade.
SEI Endorsement OR ESL license at the appropriate level.
Must meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.

Responsibilities

Implement district learning goals and align with state frameworks.
Provide small-group instruction for students with moderate to severe cognitive delays.
Write and implement IEP goals and monitor progress.
Provide accommodations for learning and testing; develop curriculum as needed and prepare MCAS Alternative assessments.
Collaborate with staff to support student needs and modify instruction as required.
Assist students transitioning to adult living services where appropriate.
