Job summary

Texas A&M AgriLife is seeking a Research Technician I to perform entry-level technical support in seed production under supervision. The role involves handling seed production tasks, data collection, and assisting in field operations.

The position requires a high school diploma, two years of related experience, and the ability to work well with others. Duties include harvesting, cleaning, bagging seed, and maintaining equipment and records. This is an hourly staff position in Vernon, TX.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Two years of related experience.
• Familiarity with farm work and field equipment.
• Ability to work well with others and follow verbal instructions.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform or assist in the harvest, transport, storage, conditioning, and distribution of seed.
• Assist in the evaluation of production fields and rogue or supervise rogueing for genetic and quality contaminants.
• Assist in estimating needs, procurement and maintenance of stocks and materials (seed, bags, tags, chemicals, supplies).
• Perform the repair, maintenance or modification of all machinery and equipment used in daily operations.
• Maintain records such as vehicle mileage reports, seed inventory, vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair logs.
• Assist in training part-time employees in all aspects of seed production and conditioning, including operation, maintenance, modification, repair and safety of equipment and materials.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
