Job summary

Texas A&M AgriLife Research in Vernon, Texas seeks a Research Technician I to provide entry-level technical support for seed production and field operations. The role involves assisting with harvest, cleaning, bagging, and quality control under supervision.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience, along with a valid Texas driver's license. It is an on-site, staff-level role with comprehensive benefits for eligible staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Two years of related experience.
• Familiarity with farm work and field equipment.
• Ability to work well with others and follow verbal instructions.
• Valid Texas driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform harvest, transport, storage, conditioning, and distribution of seed.
• Assist in evaluating production fields and rogueing for contaminants to meet quality standards.
• Assist in estimating needs, procurement and maintenance of stocks and materials needed for operations.
• Perform the repair, maintenance or modification of machinery and equipment used daily.
• Maintain records such as vehicle mileage, seed inventory, maintenance logs, etc.
• Assist in training part-time employees in seed production and related safety.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
