Job summary

Gowan Company is seeking a Field Development Representative in California to lead evaluation and market development of new varieties and products. The role involves planning seed trials, collecting data, and communicating results to R&D, sales, and marketing teams.

You will develop trial plans, manage data, and build relationships with breeders, suppliers, and customers while contributing to product development and catalog updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in agriculture, biology or a related field, or substantial farming experience.
• Valid driver's license, and ability to drive long distances on a regular basis.
• Ability to work 50+ hours per week seasonally, and be available for overnight travel, as needed.
• Computer proficiency is a must.
• Meticulous research and data management skills are a key requirement of this position.
• Ability to manage deadlines, priorities, and the work of other people.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute seed variety trials and data collection.
• Analyze trial data to describe varieties and provide season summaries.
• Coordinate with research & development, breeders, and sales to stay current on varieties.
• Support marketing with product descriptions and catalog updates.
• Travel to trials and represent Gowan Seed at trade shows as needed.
