Job summary

Franklin Cummings Tech is seeking a Teaching Assistant for CS105: Network Communication and Security Fundamentals to support the instructor and students as they prepare for the CompTIA Security+ exam.

The TA will help create practice questions, supervise in-person tests, tutor students, and share strategies. Must be enrolled, have passed Security+, FAFSA completed, and be available two days weekly 9am–3pm.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled student at Franklin Cummings Tech.
  • Must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or above.
  • Work a minimum of 2 days a week between 9am-3pm.
  • Should have passed the CompTIA Security+ exam.
  • Must complete the FAFSA.
  • Demonstrate financial need and interest in the work-study program.
  • Be enrolled in enough credits to qualify for Federal work-study.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with students one-on-one or in small groups to support CompTIA Security+ exam prep.
  • Assist the instructor in preparing practice test questions, supervising practice tests, reviewing answers, and holding a 30-minute weekly meeting.
  • Maintain clear communication with students regarding progress and sessions.
  • Coordinate and schedule tutoring sessions with individuals or groups.
  • Share contact information with students to facilitate session coordination.
  • Wait at least 15 minutes for students to arrive for tutoring appointments.
  • Explain and simplify cybersecurity concepts to enhance understanding.
  • Complete and submit weekly timesheets to the supervisor.
