Security Technology (Low Voltage) Designer

Dewberry is seeking a talented Security/Technology (Low Voltage) Designer to enhance our Technology group within the Engineering Design Center located in Birmingham, AL. If you are a client-focused, highly motivated, and organized designer looking to expand your technical and management skills, this is your opportunity to thrive in our growing, fast‑paced, multi‑disciplined engineering department.

In this dynamic role, you will leverage your 3+ years of experience in low-voltage systems while also embracing the chance to develop your expertise across various technical disciplines and management. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong technology design background who are enthusiastic about contributing to innovative security solutions.

Key Required Certifications
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • Physical Security Professional (PSP)
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical design for discipline area.
  • Peer review project work for the discipline area.
  • Work with team members in establishing/improving standards for discipline area.
  • Adherence to project design schedules.
  • Adherence to discipline project budgets.
  • Pay attention to project scope during the design process to identify potential additional services.
  • Provide general updates of projects (status in the process, tasks to complete, percentage complete currently, etc.).
  • Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time for good design coordination.
  • Provide on‑the‑spot advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with all of the disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
Required Skills & Experience
  • H.S. Diploma required.
  • Required certifications: Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP).
  • Accomplished (3+ years) in low voltage systems including:
    • Structured cabling (inside and outside plant)
    • Electronic Physical Access Control
    • Video Surveillance
    • Intrusion Detection
    • Overhead Paging
    • Audio/Visual
    • Nurse Call
    • Real Time Locating Systems
    • Infant (and memory care) Protection
    • Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems
  • Experience in the following systems (a plus):
    • Structured cabling
    • Electronic Physical Access Control
    • Video Surveillance
    • Intrusion Detection
    • Overhead Paging
    • Audio/Visual
    • Nurse Call
