Job Title

Security Technician

Summary

Presbyterian is seeking a Security Technician to provide security for patients, employees, visitors, and all those who come in contact with PHS. Have a working knowledge of security equipment and systems as required. Perform hazard and risk surveillance in conjunction with the fulfillment of security program execution. Type of opportunity: Full time. Job Exempt: No. Job is based: Presbyterian Hospital. Work Shift: Varied Days and Hours (United States of America).

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and ad hoc patrols of hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized visitors.
• Conduct hazard surveillance for safety, security and infection control issues.
• Interact and professionally manage issues with employees, physicians, visitors, contractors, vendors, and all who come in contact with PHS.
• Collaborate with local, state and federal agencies as required and approved by PHS.
• Respond to calls for key service, vehicle assistance, and escorts in a timely manner.
• Control parking and traffic flow, enforce parking policies and issue citations as required.
• Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises; confront suspected unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
• Position requires heavy lifting of ≥50 pounds for >33% of shifts in situations where self‑defense is deemed necessary.
• May be required to assist with lifting of patients, visitors, and/or staff.
• May be required to assist in lifting of deceased persons.
• Assist medical staff in restraining violent, agitated and/or hostile persons.
• Capable of long periods of standing and foot patrols.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Less than one year of general security experience; one year of security experience preferred.
• Must possess effective communication and written documentation skills.
• Must be able to perform all requirements and training of a security technician.
• Must demonstrate familiarity with hospital locations and operations within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to drive a company‑owned vehicle.
• Must have a current New Mexico driver’s license, and must be insurable by Presbyterian Healthcare Services.

Education Essential: High School Diploma or GED.
