Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services seeks a Security Team Specialist I to provide security for residents, staff and property at a 400-acre campus serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities include patrolling buildings, screening visitors, investigating incidents, assisting local fire, police and EMS, deterring trespass, supporting evacuations, and operating radios and phones.

The Facility is seeking to fill a Security Team Specialist I position. The facility is located on a 400 acre campus; providing services for a 250-bed facility serving the more complex medical, rehabilitative, educational, and recreational needs of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and challenges.
Appointee must be eligible for appointment as a special police officer under Chapter 22C, Section 60 (DPH) and Section 59 (DMH & DMR) of the Massachusetts General Laws.
Candidate will be in possession of an Associates degree or higher.
Knowledge of methods and procedures followed in security of buildings and property.
Understanding of the laws, rules and regulations governing arrest. search and seizure.
Candidate will hold an acceptable driving record.
Full-time – 40-hour weekly position
Schedule – 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
Days off – Sunday and Monday
Flexibility with work schedule will be required for this position.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have (A) at least one (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time, experience in work involving the protection and/or security of buildings, equipment or individuals, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Applicants applying for positions within the Department of Youth Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Public Health are required to obtain and maintain a valid certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and first aid. Additionally, applicants applying for positions within the Department of Youth Services are required to obtain and maintain a valid certification in crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
I. An Associate’s degree or higher in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver’s license at a class level specific to assignment.
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
