Job summary

Jobot is seeking Security Systems Technicians and Lead Technicians to install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial security, access control, alarm, and video surveillance systems in Madison, WI.

Developing technicians will build skills while Lead Technicians independently lead projects and guide others; compensation aligns with experience. The role includes flexible PTO and comprehensive benefits within a dynamic, small-team environment.

Qualifications

  • Commercial security systems experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with access control, alarm, and/or video surveillance systems.
  • Understanding of low-voltage cabling requirements and installation practices.
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment used in commercial security installations.
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage AC/DC power.
  • Ability to use a multimeter for testing and troubleshooting.
  • TCP/IP networking knowledge.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes and safe installation practices.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to safely work from ladders, scissor lifts, and articulated boom lifts.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver equipment for field installations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • No specific license is required. Manufacturer and industry certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial security systems.

  • Install and maintain alarm system field hardware and control panels.
  • Install and maintain video surveillance equipment and head-end equipment.
  • Install and terminate Cat5/Cat6 and other low-voltage cabling.
  • Perform cable terminations, equipment installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and system documentation.
  • Work with low-voltage AC/DC power and use multimeters for testing.
  • Assist with or independently program access control, alarm, and video systems.
  • Diagnose system issues and implement safe, effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, programming information, and test results.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, project teams, and technicians.
  • Lead projects and provide technical direction for Lead-level candidates.

Established Commercial Low-Voltage Systems Integrator Seeks Security Technicians of All Experience Levels!

We are an established commercial low-voltage systems integrator serving businesses and organizations throughout the Madison area and surrounding Wisconsin communities. For more than 20 years, our team has designed, installed, serviced, and supported technology systems across a wide variety of commercial environments.

Our capabilities include structured cabling, security and access control, video surveillance, audio/video, and communications systems.

We are currently expanding our field team and are interested in speaking with Security Technicians at multiple experience levels — from developing technicians looking to grow their skills to experienced Lead Technicians capable of independently running projects and guiding other team members.

Job Details

We are seeking Security Systems Technicians and Lead Security Systems Technicians to install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial security, access control, alarm, and video surveillance systems.

We are open to different experience levels. More experienced candidates may take ownership of projects, lead installations, provide guidance to other technicians, and perform programming and advanced troubleshooting. Developing technicians may work alongside experienced team members while continuing to build their technical capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial security systems
  • Install and maintain access control field hardware and control panels
  • Install and maintain alarm system field hardware and control panels
  • Install and maintain video surveillance equipment and associated head-end equipment
  • Install and terminate Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, and other low-voltage/multimedia cabling
  • Perform cable terminations, equipment installation, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and system documentation
  • Work with low-voltage AC/DC power and utilize multimeters for testing and diagnostics
  • Assist with or independently perform programming of access control, alarm, and video surveillance systems based on experience

Experience Level

We are intentionally considering candidates across a range of experience levels.

Technician-level candidates should have a foundation in commercial low-voltage/security installation and the ability to contribute effectively as part of a project team.

Lead-level candidates should have extensive hands-on commercial security experience and be capable of independently leading installations, troubleshooting complex systems, programming equipment, directing other technicians, and taking ownership of projects from installation through completion.
