Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Security Systems Technician to program, commission, and troubleshoot access control, CCTV, and voice/data systems. You will collaborate with sales, field project teams, and clients to ensure sound design and seamless installation and commissioning.

The role requires 2–5 years in building security systems, ability to read design drawings, and a high school diploma. OSHA 10 preferred; background and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience in a technician role within the building security systems industry.
• Knowledge of current security systems including access control, CCTV, and voice and data systems.
• Ability to program and commission mid-range security systems.
• Intermediate computer knowledge related to use, installation, and programming software.
• Independent ability to program the security system manufacturer’s product platform(s).
• Ability to terminate security control units and field equipment with minimal supervision.
• State, local, contract, and/or product specific certifications determined by the business.
• Ability to read security system design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Review system layouts and coordinate with engineering, project management, and sales departments for successful project execution.
• Install, program, and commission access control, CCTV, and voice and data systems via laptop computers.
• Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
• Responsible for programming, commissioning, and final acceptance by customers, engineering forms and end users.
• Perform troubleshooting and enact effective resolution.
• Deliver projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
• Assist in the oversight of project and vehicle inventory.
• Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
• Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers, including instructions and how to respond to any system signals.
• Communicate and coordinate with onsite contractors.
• Comply with industry standard procedures and Sciens safety programs/policies.
