Job summary

Barker Communications & Security in the Iowa City–Cedar Rapids area is seeking a Security Systems Installer to join our team. This full-time, on-site position installs, configures, and tests cameras, alarms, access control, and related low-voltage equipment at customer sites.

You will read installation plans, run cables, mount devices, verify operation, and work with project managers and clients to coordinate scheduling.

Qualifications

Role Description

The Security Systems Installer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in the Iowa City–Cedar Rapids area. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, and testing security systems such as cameras, alarms, access control, and related low‑voltage equipment at customer locations. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting installation plans, running and terminating cables, mounting and wiring devices, and verifying proper system operation. The installer will coordinate with project managers and clients to schedule work, explain system functionality, and address basic technical issues or adjustments. The position also involves maintaining tools and vehicles, following safety standards and company procedures, documenting completed work, and providing basic troubleshooting and support for installed systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or certifications are a plus.
