Job summary

ByteDance’s Security Technology team seeks an experienced Security Systems Administrator to embed on the team in San Jose. You will administer Lenel Access Control and Avigilon CCTV, configure devices, and ensure system reliability in a hybrid, four-days-on-site role with one remote day.

You’ll manage priorities, coordinate with vendors and global teams, perform troubleshooting, maintain documentation, and support testing and commissioning for enterprise security deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in programming, administering, and supporting enterprise physical security systems.
• Experience with Lenel Access Control and Avigilon CCTV systems, including administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent security system service requests, maintenance activities, and deployment projects with minimal supervision.
• Experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise physical security systems, including cameras, access control panels, and integrated devices, with collaboration with field technicians and vendors.
• Understanding of network architecture and information security concepts (LAN/WAN, IP, DHCP, MAC, VPNs, firewalls, Active Directory).
• Strong project management, documentation, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliverables.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with global teams, vendors, installers, and technology partners.
• Lenel OnGuard Fundamentals certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise physical security systems with focus on Lenel and Avigilon platforms.
• Program and configure new security devices, system expansions, upgrades, and Day 2 operational enhancements.
• Monitor system health, optimize availability, and resolve issues impacting security infrastructure performance.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, backups, firmware updates, and preventative maintenance.
• Manage and prioritize service requests and break-fix incidents with timely resolution and documentation.
• Configure access control systems, manage load sheets, and maintain system configurations.
• Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, installers, and site stakeholders for maintenance and access requirements.
• Support testing and commissioning activities, including pre-test validation, T&C reporting, punch lists, and system acceptance.
• Maintain documentation, service metrics, trackers, and reporting for maintenance and special projects.
• Partner with global security technology teams to improve performance and standardize configurations.

Job description

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Security Systems Administrator to be embedded on ByteDance’s Security Technology team.

This role is responsible for the administration, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise security systems. Experience with Lenel Access Control and Avigilon CCTV systems is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate is a highly technical systems administrator with experience supporting enterprise security operations, ensuring system reliability, troubleshooting complex issues, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

This is a full-time, hybrid position offering competitive benefits. Employees are required to work onsite four days per week at ByteDance’s San Jose office, with the flexibility to work remotely one day per week.

Essential Job Functions

• Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise physical security systems, with a strong focus on Lenel Access Control and Avigilon CCTV platforms.

• Program and configure new security devices, system expansions, upgrades, and Day 2 operational enhancements across enterprise environments.

• Monitor system health, optimize system availability, and proactively identify and resolve issues impacting physical security infrastructure performance.

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, system backups, firmware updates, log reviews, and preventative maintenance activities.

• Manage and prioritize service requests and break-fix incidents, ensuring timely resolution, documentation, and operational visibility.

• Configure access control systems, manage load sheets, perform programming, and maintain system configurations supporting operational and project requirements.

• Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, installers, and site stakeholders to support maintenance activities, service requests, and site access requirements.

• Support testing and commissioning activities, including pre-test validation, T&C reporting, punch list management, and system acceptance.

• Maintain accurate system documentation, service metrics, trackers, and reporting for ongoing maintenance activities and special projects.

• Partner with global security technology teams to improve system performance, standardize configurations, and support enterprise security initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience programming, administering, and supporting enterprise physical security systems.

• Understanding of Lenel Access Control and Avigilon CCTV systems, with hands-on experience administering, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise deployments.

• Experience managing multiple concurrent security system service requests, maintenance activities, and new deployment projects with minimal supervision.

• Experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise physical security systems, including cameras, access control panels, and integrated security devices, with the ability to collaborate with field technicians and vendors on hardware-related issues.

• Understanding of network architecture and information security concepts, including LAN/WAN environments, IP addressing, DHCP, MAC addresses, VPNs, firewalls, Active Directory/domains, and collaboration with network teams.

• Strong project management, documentation, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliverables.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with global teams, vendors, installers, and technology partners.

• Lenel OnGuard Fundamentals certification (preferred).
