Job summary

Envelop Group's EnvelopiQ unit seeks a Security System Technician to install, configure, and program access control and CCTV systems at customer sites. You will wire, test, and document configurations, training end users, and ensure installations meet standards.

This on-site role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in physical security or low-voltage work, and the ability to work in varied environments. Pre-hire drug test and background check apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational or trade courses in electrical/electronics/communications preferred.
• 2+ years in physical security, fire alarm, or low-voltage industry with field devices installation and programming experience.
• Experience with access control, video surveillance systems, and related software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, and configure access control and surveillance systems per customer specs and project needs.
• Connect control panels, handle wiring, and install security software.
• Test installed systems to ensure proper operation and reliability.
• Provide customer training on operation and basic maintenance of security systems.
• Perform QA checks to ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements.
• Address customer questions during and after installation; document configurations and settings.
• Maintain records of installation activity, diagrams, and system configurations.
• Perform related duties such as drilling, trenching, and cable runs as needed.

The Security System Technician is responsible for the installation, setup, and configuration of access control systems and video security cameras.

What you'll do:

• Install, program, and configure access control and surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras, access control panels, intrusion alarm system and related hardware and software components, according to customer specifications and project requirements.
• Responsible for the connection of control panels, application requirements, wire concealment and security software installation.
• Conduct thorough testing of installed systems to ensure proper functionality.
• Provide training to customers on the operation and basic maintenance of access control and video security systems.
• Conduct quality assurance checks and inspections of security system installations to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
• Address customer questions and concerns during and after the installation.
• Maintain accurate records of all installation activities, including configurations, wiring diagrams, and system settings.
• Run electrical wiring; related activities to include drilling, trenching, and aerial runs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:

• High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Vocational or trade school courses in electrical, electronics, or communication systems preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in the physical security, fire alarm or low voltage communication industry installing field devices, and programing systems.
• Experience with any or all of the following preferred: Access Control, Salto, Hirsch, Open Options, Genetec, Video Surveillance, Hanwha, Milestone, Vicon.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Sense of urgency, self-initiative, dedication, and sense of ownership.
• Effective written and verbal interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
• Outstanding ability to follow through from start to finish of work.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to balance multiple priorities.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company needs including to be vaccinated for the flu and/or Covid-19, and subject to all applicable laws.
• Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
• Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
