Job summary

Tusker is seeking a Lead Security System Technician to install and commission electronic security systems from start to finish, reporting to the Manager of Physical Security. You will lead project sites, interpret design drawings, and ensure successful deployments.

The role requires hands-on installation of cameras, card readers, access control, and related equipment, plus programming, troubleshooting, and on-site coordination with the team. Regular attendance is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience installing and commissioning physical security systems.
  • Ability to read construction documents and technical specifications.
  • Basic IP network configuration understanding.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

Job description

Tusker (formerly Camera Corner Connecting Point) is seeing a Lead Security System Technician. The Lead Security System Technician position is responsible for the installation and commissioning of electronic security systems (access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection) from start to finish, while reporting to the Manager of Physical Security.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead project sites in a supervisory role, directing assigned technicians while actively participating in the physical installation.
  • Accurately interpret and work from system design drawings, floor plans, and construction documents.
  • Safely and cleanly install physical security devices including cameras, card readers, door hardware, intrusion panels, power supplies, and cabling.
  • Mount, wire, label, and test security head-end equipment (racks, servers, switches, patch panels, controllers).
  • Commission and test systems to ensure full functionality, including programming IP addresses, enrolling devices, and verifying connectivity.
  • Perform basic to intermediate programming within access control or video management platforms (e.g., badge creation, camera stream setup).
  • Troubleshoot issues related to cabling, power, and device communication.
  • Platforms may include (but are not limited to): Verkada, Avigilon, Milestone, Hanwha, Axis, HID, Mercury.
  • Provide regular project updates to management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for as-builts and system labeling.
  • Regular in-person attendance is required.
Project Responsibilities
  • Communicate all project variances with the Physical Security Team.
  • Manage on-site product substitutions or change orders.
  • Attend and contribute to pre-project planning meetings.
  • Adhere to all job site safety and conduct policies.
  • Ensure system is fully tested and commissioned per scope.
  • Walk customer through basic system operation as part of project hand-off.
  • Coordinate final programming hand-off when applicable.

Knowledge, Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Comfortable working with hand and power tools, including scissor lifts.
  • Basic understanding of Windows-based applications, system configuration, and browser-based interfaces.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Noise level is usually moderate.
  • Frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Only on rare occasions (and with assistance) will the employee be requested to lift more than 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be willing to drive company vehicles to carious client sites on a daily basis. While the majority of projects are local (within 60-mile radius), occasionally, there will be projects where overnight travel is required in order to meet specific deadlines.
Salary

up to $30/hour
