We are currently seeking: Senior Electronic Security Technician
The Senior Electronic Security Technician will oversee daily operations at assigned worksites under the leadership of a Project or Operations Manager to ensure the completion of assigned tasks or projects in a safe and efficient manner. The Senior Electronic Security Technician will also serve as the point of contact between the Customer and Operations.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensures that ES division systems and projects are completed on time and under budget.
- Leads installation, termination, testing, labeling, and building communications closets.
- Participates in continuing education to stay up to date on industry standards.
- Trains ES Technicians to ensure everyone has knowledge of the systems being installed.
- Leads installation, termination, testing, and programming of Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion, and other systems.
- Ensure technicians are meeting TUSCO and industry standards.
- Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment and for ensuring technicians are meeting all TUSCO and OSHA safety standards.
- Takes an active role in the maintenance of TUSCO equipment, tools, and trucks.
- Follows Project Manager and Operations Manager's instructions.
- On federal/government contract sites, follows all site-specific security protocols, including badge/escort procedures and controlled access requirements.
- Handles Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and CUI-marked drawings/documents in accordance with DFARS 252.204-7012 and site-specific handling procedures; ensures crew members are briefed on CUI marking, storage, and transmission restrictions before working with such material.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Must have understanding of NFPA 101 and electronic access control systems.
- Must have thorough understanding of DC Voltage Principles, Relay Logic, and IEEE 802.3x Standards.
- Must be able to explain DC Voltage Principles and Relay Logic to field colleagues.
- Must be able to read and interpret architectural prints, shop drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
- Must have working knowledge of manufacturer platform hardware. This includes installation, configuration, and basic troubleshooting of :
- Lifesafety Power Enclosures/Boards
- ALTRONIX Power Enclosures/Boards
- C-CURE 9000 - GCM / ACM / I8 & R8 Boards
- Gallagher Command Centre – 6000 & 7000 Series Controllers/Hardware
- Mercury Security Hardware – Lenel OnGuard, Genetec Security Center, Avigilon ACM etc..
- Must have basic working knowledge of networking and be able to navigate changing IP addresses in network devices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Ability to follow highly complex directions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to climb and work from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding, including work at heights.
- Ability to work in attics, crawlspaces, communications closets, and other confined spaces.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and reach overhead for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions on job sites.
- Ability to perform physical installation tasks including pulling cable, mounting hardware, and terminating devices.
Security & Government Contract Requirements
- Must be eligible to pass a government-required background investigation/suitability check for access to federal and military installations (e.g., USACE sites).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any site-specific access credentials (e.g., CAC-sponsored escort, base access badges).
- Subject to drug screening and background check as a condition of employment and continued site access.
Education and Experience
- Four years of experience with access control, low voltage cabling, CCTV, or intrusion systems.
- AESBL or comparable certification/license preferred but not required (e.g., NICET, manufacturer-issued certifications for C-CURE, Lenel, Genetec, or Milestone).
- Working knowledge of Computer hardware preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, required for operating company vehicles between job sites.
Working Conditions
- Primarily field-based, on commercial and government/federal job sites.
- May require travel between multiple job sites within a region; overnight travel possible for certain projects.
