Job summary

Stanford University seeks a Security Supervisor to implement and assist in developing site security, traffic management and emergency preparedness programs. This non-sworn, unarmed role manages the daily security function with uniformed staff and shift work including holidays.

The position requires an Associate’s degree with 3 years security experience; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and risk assessment skills are essential for campus-wide protection.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and three years of relevant security experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with a diverse group of people.
• Ability to coordinate work scheduling, quality assurance, program validation, and supervise personnel.
• Attention to detail and ability to make sound decisions during critical incidents.

Responsibilities

• Supervise security staff; provide direction, train, evaluate and counsel.
• Participate in recruiting, hiring and training of security employees; set performance objectives and evaluations.
• Provide feedback and documentation to ensure performance aligns with expectations.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, including foothills recreation area and bike abatement program.
• Coordinate security for events, exhibits, and daily operations.
• Advise departments on security regulations and procedures; recommend improvements.
• Plan and evaluate special event security; manage department budget.
• Track incident reports and conduct risk and security surveys.
• Utilize electronic security systems and cameras; issue alerts and lockdowns when needed.
• Investigate incidents and ensure proper procedures are followed.
