Starting Pay: $21/hour, non-exempt
Security Supervisor Job Summary: The Security Supervisor assists the Security Manager in enforcing the policies and regulations of all KPA managed properties. This position directs, trains, and supervises KPA security guards and contracted staff, and provides the highest quality security and customer service for all properties, patrons, and artists.
Security Supervisor Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of Kentucky Performing Arts while understanding and complying with company expectations, policies, and procedures.
- Adapts well to changing priorities, deadlines, and directions with a positive and open mindset. Communicates clearly, consistently, respectfully, and collaboratively on behalf of KPA.
- Participates in all appropriate internal and external meetings, as well as professional development programs to maintain competency and increase acumen.
- Effectively manages financial and physical resources to achieve the mission and goals of KPA.
- Assists with the orientation and training of new security staff as needed.
- Supervises contract security staff.
- Monitors the welfare of the buildings, surrounding properties, and personnel.
- Encourages and executes the principles of integrated safety management; takes personal responsibility for safety.
- Patrols corridors, stairwells, and lobby areas inside KPA venues and, as directed, entrances and peripheral boundaries. Completes security checklists and maintains lock up schedules.
- Logs all incoming packages and mail received during and after normal working hours, including the verification of the received goods before signing for them.
- Delivers packages to the proper location, maintaining the required documentation.
- Observes and addresses, as appropriate, any hazardous conditions that might exist during regular patrols.
- Performs all necessary services to assure the safety and protection of the building occupants and real or personal property against injury, molestation, loss or damage from any preventable cause including, but not limited to, fire, theft, trespass, sabotage, terrorism and physical and/or verbal abuse.
- Lawfully performs such other services as may be necessary in the event of situations such as civil disturbances or any event that could adversely affect the security or safety of KPA property, personnel, or patrons.
- Available to cover emergency call-ins to work with little notice for extended periods.
- Keeps KPA provided mobile phone always charged and on their person.
- Works harmoniously with others, responds positively to instructions and procedures and is able to work well with others.
- Responsible for all equipment hooked to the Edwards Fire System. Deals competently and efficiently with smoke alarms, hold-up alarms, etc., and knows the correct procedures to follow on the system.
- Aids in obtaining professional assistance (police, fire, etc.) in accordance with local procedures in the event of injury or illness of employees or patrons within KPA managed properties.
- Maintains KPA vehicles.
- Maintains knowledge of all stairways and doors, and the security department designation for each area, knowledge of locations of all fire and emergency exits, stocks and/or materials of where stored on various floors and in various rooms and closets, locations of all fire alarm panels, emergency fire-fighting equipment, fire standpipe lines, fire hydrants and hose reels, and all valves controlling the supply of water to the sprinkler system.
- Has all equipment and staff ready to open building in a timely manner for all public events.
- Makes sure all equipment is accounted for, all doors are secure, and building is clear at the conclusion of events.
- Utilizes provided body cameras in necessary instances and saves footage.
- Aids KPA guests in a helpful, efficient, and courteous manner, displaying the highest level of customer service.
- Documents daily occurrences by way of a logbook and documents any significant incidents with an incident report.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Security Supervisor Essential Physical Responsibilities:
- Above average skills in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- This position requires the regular ability to hear and speak.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, as well as navigate the facility in both public and private spaces.
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and run.
- Ability to scale staircases and ladders quickly.
- Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds unassisted with appropriate lifting techniques and/or devices.
- Must be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays or overtime, and be prepared to stay as long as is requested by department leadership with proper notification.
- This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment testing, in compliance with Kentucky Performing Arts policy.
Security Supervisor Education, License, and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years security/loss prevention experience required.
- Minimum of 1 year supervision of security/loss prevention experience required.
- Must have valid USA driver’s license.
- Must maintain adult CPR and AED certification.
