Summary:
  • Responsible for security during assigned shift including scheduling of officers and maintaining appropriate records. Properly supervises and manages all Security Officers during their tour of duty.
Responsibilities:
  • Schedules duty assignments for shift security guard force and periodically checks with assigned personnel to ensure that assigned duties are properly carried out and that officers are on post.
  • Inspects uniforms, equipment, and personal appearance of assigned personnel.
  • Conducts random patrols of hospital premises for general security, safety, and fire protection purposes.
  • Directs and conducts preliminary investigations of alleged criminal acts on hospital premises.
  • Directs removal or apprehension of unauthorized or suspicious persons on hospital premises.
  • Prepares department operations reports as required.
  • Oversees the operations training for newly hired shift security officers.
  • Completes time cards for assigned shift.
  • Interacts with all PAH employees, staff, visitors, and patients in a cordial, helpful, and professional manner.
  • Ensures that all Security generated paperwork is entered into the computer in a timely manner.
  • Prepares weekly Security Officer schedules.
  • Answers calls for service in and around the hospital.
  • Conducts periodic fire drills in and around the hospital.
  • Completes payroll for Security.
  • Uses effective interpersonal skills in all interactions.
  • Performs duties and exhibits behaviors consistent with the care philosophy of Pennsylvania Hospital.
Credentials:
  • PA Act - Trng to Cry Lthl Wpns (Required)
  • Pennsylvania Act 235 certification required upon completion of six months of employment.
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Current, active, unrestricted driver's license required.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Equivalent Experience: 4+ years extensive experience in security guard force operations, preferably in a healthcare setting; 1+ years supervisory experience.
