Job description

The Security Supervisor reports to the Director of Public Safety & Security and is devoted to providing oversight and planning of security for RCPAC property and grounds, conducting visual and video surveillance and notifying first responders of issues. The position oversees our contracted third-party security guards to ensure quality and effectiveness of security service. The security supervisor coordinates training and assists the Director of Public Safety & Security in leading all incident response efforts, including internal investigations, documentation, reporting and follow-ups. The position conducts risk assessments, and threat evaluations for events, concerts, sporting events, and other high-profile event functions. In addition, it provides oversight and planning of security guard patrol activities, monitors the security and safety of facilities and grounds by video surveillance and provides assistance to patrons with general facility-related questions.

The Security Supervisor will oversee security efforts that include creating and managing access points and equipment at our facilities, which will be an increasing effort of time and resources with the expansion of our convention center and acting as liaison to oversee the third-party security company on-site 24/7. They also will be integral in the implementation of the roll out of new security equipment at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts.

In carrying out security responsibilities, the Security Supervisor frequently interacts with and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes patrons at RCPAC venues, City employees, local law enforcement and the contracted third-party security firm.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of proven, strong leadership in security management in an entertainment venue. Those who have strong communication, problem-solving skills and the ability to lead in high-pressure situations along with experience in security management and a proven ability to lead teams effectively. The selected candidate will be well-versed in security protocols and have demonstrated the ability to tactfully, skillfully work with external and internal stakeholders.

Work Hours:
This position is expected to work Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm as well assome nights, weekends and holidays, as needed and based on event scheduling. The ability, availability and willingness to work some nights, weekends and holidays, as needed and based on event scheduling, is a must.

  • Supervise event security and loading dock operations in conjunction with members of the security department.
  • Oversee the production, tracking, and key card access for building access and event credentialing.
  • Training of all contracted security personnel to include reviewing and updating of security post orders, incident report writing, and policies.
  • Assist guests and clients with security related issues and responding to emergencies to deescalate urgent matters.
  • Uses strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and three years of related experience

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.Knowledge Of:

ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light work.

Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
