Job Description

JFL Consulting, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-focused Security Specialist to provide full-time, on-site support to the Security Manager (SM) and Special Security Officer (SSO). The Security Specialist will assist in executing administrative, personnel, information, and physical security operations, ensuring compliance with security protocols for collateral and SCI environments. This role requires familiarity with the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS), and involves close coordination with internal personnel and external agencies to maintain secure operations and clearance processing. Job Title: Security Specialist

Place of Performance: Washington, D.C. (Fully On-Site)

Mandatory Requirements: U.S. Citizenship and TS/SCI Eligibility

Experience Level: Mid-Level (3–5 years in industrial security or FSO role)

Responsibilities

Personnel Security (30%)

  • Assist with processing and tracking personnel security clearances in DISS, NBIS and eAPP (formerly eQIP)
  • Support onboarding, indoctrination, and debriefing of cleared personnel, including SCI billet management
  • Help resolve minor derogatory issues and coordinate follow-up actions with external agencies
  • Maintain up-to-date records of security briefings and training for all cleared personnel

Physical Security (30%)

  • Support the inspection and maintenance of access control systems, alarms, and secure areas
  • Assist with implementing physical security measures and Balanced Survivability Assessment (BSA) findings
  • Coordinate with facilities and external agencies to ensure ongoing compliance with security requirements

Information Security (40%)

  • Assist with managing classified material control, including tracking, storage, and destruction logs
  • Help operate and maintain the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and associated systems
  • Provide support for security briefings, visit authorizations, and foreign visit validations
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable directives, including NISPOM, ICDs, and DoD 5205.07 series

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Certifications (Preferred)

  • CDSE FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities
  • Insider Threat Program Training
  • Additional CDSE or DoD Security Certifications a plus

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in personnel, program, or industrial security
  • Experience supporting SCI, SAP, or collateral-level programs
  • Hands-on experience using DISS, NBIS, and eQIP is required
  • Familiarity working with DCSA, and coordinating with external government agencies

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of classified material handling and SCIF operations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and secure document tracking systems

Soft Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Clear verbal and written communication
  • Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external government agencies
  • Discretion and professionalism in managing sensitive material
