Security Specialist

Security Specialists operate under direct or general supervision during assigned shifts. Work is performed in accordance with established procedures, post orders, and supervisor direction. Personnel are expected to carry out assigned duties, follow escalation protocols, and notify supervisors of incidents requiring higher-level decision-making. Performance is evaluated based on adherence to procedures, response effectiveness, and completion of assigned tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned security duties during scheduled shifts, including patrols, monitoring systems, and incident response.
  • Serve as an on-site responder to security, safety, and medical incidents, following established response procedures and escalation protocols.
  • Conduct routine and random patrols of facilities and grounds to identify hazards, security risks, or policy violations.
  • Monitor and operate CCTV, access control systems, alarms, and life-safety systems, reporting irregularities to supervision.
  • Control and document site access, including visitor processing, credential checks, and contractor verification.
  • Respond to alarms and incidents, assess conditions, and elevate to supervisors or emergency services as required.
  • Provide initial emergency response support, including basic first aid, evacuation assistance, and scene control until relieved.
  • Complete incident reports, daily activity logs, and shift documentation accurately and before the end of each shift.
  • Maintain accountability of issued equipment, ensuring readiness and reporting deficiencies.
  • Support site operations, special events, and high-visibility activities as directed by supervision.
  • Follow all company policies, post orders, and safety procedures, reporting any deviations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure continuity between shifts.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior security, military, law enforcement, emergency response, or industrial security experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of security operations, patrol procedures, access control systems, CCTV monitoring, alarm systems, and emergency response protocols
  • Ability to follow and apply established procedures, post orders, safety requirements, and escalation protocols in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and extended hours as operationally required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to complete accurate reports, maintain shift continuity, and communicate professionally with employees, contractors, visitors, and emergency responders
  • Ability to assess situations, remain calm under pressure, and make sound decisions during security, safety, medical, or operational incidents
  • Ability to stand, walk, patrol, and respond to incidents for extended periods while maintaining situational awareness and operational readiness
