Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist to help keep guests and team members safe while protecting store assets. The role involves engaging with guests, de-escalation, incident documentation, and supporting loss prevention efforts in a physically active, fast-moving retail environment.

You’ll join Target’s Assets Protection team and participate in security operations, including incident response, video surveillance, and collaborative problem solving with store leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Meet state or local licensure or other legal requirements.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Capable of remaining focused in a fast-paced environment and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience.
• Greet guests and assist them to resolve issues for a smooth shopping experience.
• End every guest interaction with a sincere thank you.
• Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote a safe security culture across the store and exterior areas.
• Respond to security incidents and document them accurately in case systems.
• Conduct merchandise loss prevention and communicate trends to prevent shortages.
• Understand and use Target's video surveillance system.
• Work safely and comply with all safety policies and training.
